Hydrophobicity (or hydrophathy) profiles according to Kyte and Doolittle of homologous proteins are in general strikingly similar and may provide a tool in the alignment of two or more proteins. The three phosphoglycerate kinase sequences below have respectively 81% (T.congolense vs T. brucei ) and 50% (T.congolense or T. brucei vs E.gracilis ) identity to each other.
