Upstream and downstream of the AMP-activated protein kinase (HORM-PHOS): Positions available – Postes vacants
We are looking for young, motivated scientists to embark on Ph.D. projects and post-doctoral research. We offer :
- multidisciplinary training on the biochemistry of cell signalling
- a stimulating and competitive environment
- opportunities to interact with scientists within the framework of national and international research networks
PhD studentships
Projects : PhD positions are available on the following topics:
1. Characterization and regulation of AMP-activated protein kinase kinases in heart and other tissues
2. Role of the AMP-activated protein kinase in smooth muscle contraction
3. Regulation of protein synthesis by insulin and the AMP-activated protein kinase in skeletal muscle and heart
Profile : Candidates should be holders of a degree (B.Sc. or its equivalent) in the life sciences (eg. biochemistry, agronomy, biomedical sciences etc.). Foreign students are welcome and can apply for belgian PhD fellowships at the F.R.I.A. (Fonds de Recherche en Industrie et Agriculture) after obtaining the equivalence of their certificate with a belgian higher education degree at the Ministry of Education.
Post-doctoral fellow
Project: A post-doctoral position is open to search for new targets of the AMP-activated protein kinase using a phosphoproteomics/mass spectrometry-based approach.
Profile: Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in the life sciences and could be funded by an ICP fellowship, EU or belgian government grant.
