Post-doctoral positions
available at the
Research Unit for Tropical Diseases of the
Christian de Duve
Institute of Cellular Pathology (ICP),
Brussels.
Several positions are available for young post-doctoral fellows who are interested in receiving additional training in one of the disciplines mentioned below.
The Research Unit for Tropical diseases (TROP), a subdivision of the laboratory of biochemistry of the UCL and headed by Fred R. Opperdoes, has an opening for one or more biochemists / enzymologists / molecular biologists.
The following topics are being studied in the TROP Unit: (i) the identification and characterisation of potential drug targets and the rational design of drugs for trypanosome-borne diseases such as sleeping sickness, Chagas' disease and Leishmaniasis; (ii), the biogenesis of the glycosome, a microbody involved in carbohydrate metabolism of the Trypanosomatidae; (iii) the study of the enzymes of the pentose-phosphate pathway in trypanosomatids.
